Introduction to equine world

man has always had a different relationship with horses from that with other agricultural live stock this is probably not really due to the intelligence of these animals on which opinions differ in any case . however, it cannot be denied that they have a distinct sensibility and the ability to adjust to people and to react to the slightest utterance the reason for the special relationship between man and horse is probably that the usefulness of the horse lies not in products but in its capabilities in conjunction with man

just notes on Arabian horses for their lover:

Arab horse

the arab horses recognize five great strains of blood which are together called the khamsa according to some accounts these strains descend from the five mares of the prophet solomon and others have it that five mares were selected by the prophet mohammed and marks by him with his thumbmark
the so-called prophet's thumb mark appears as a slight irregularity in the growth of the hair usually on or near the crest of ahorse's neck the mark has the appearance of a small circle with the hair radiating out from the center  which looks as if it had been flattened out by an impression and the term " thumb mark "is certainly an apt description of it this mark occurs on certain horses only and is fairly rare

the five strains of the the khamsa are :
the kehilan, the seglawi, the abeyan ,the hamdani , the hadban

  1. Does that Shetland belongs to performance horses? He is so cute. I wonder if I could ride on him because of his short legs.
